How to Prevent Motion Sickness, 8 Tips On Preventing Motion Sickness
Several people suffer from motion sickness especially when travelling by ship. Its symptoms are quite unpleasant therefore it is essential to look after yourself. Here are eight tips to help you do this and learn how to prevent motion sickness:

    1. Look towards the horizon - Doesn't matter what vehicle you are seated in, try to look through the windows and focus your view on the horizon. In case you are travelling by a boat or ship where there is no land or objects in sight then you must focus your attention on where the sky meets with the water. In case if you are travelling by air, looking at the moving clouds through the window will give an indication to your body that it's moving in the frontward direction.

    2. Always look forward - when travelling by a vehicle always face forward since this tells your body that it is moving in the correct direction. When you choose to sit in the back seat or on the seat that is facing backwards your eyes will give contradictory signals to your brain.

    3. Avoid doing any activity such as reading that takes away your focus from the horizon - When you are engrossed in reading, playing games on your gaming console or using a laptop your eyes assume that you are in a stationary position and send these erroneous signals to the brain. But, the joint sensory receptors, inner ears and muscles of your body observes that you are in momentum and send these correct signals to the brain causing conflicting signals resulting in motion sickness.

    4. When you are in an airplane or car, direct the air vents towards your face - The flow of air will keep you cool and help you feel relaxed. You can also keep wet tissues with you so that you could refresh yourself when required.

    5. When travelling by a car, always take the front seat - This allows you to focus and see the objects that are ahead of you and not towards the sides or the back. This helps in letting your body make out that you are proceeding in the forward direction even while being stationary in the car.

    6. Keep your head on the headrest of your seat - You will stay calm and comfortable by resting yourself and stop yourself for getting even sicker due to needless movements.

    7. Avoid heavy food and alcohol before traveling - It is advisable to stay away from greasy, big meals and alcohol an evening before. Instead, all your snacks and meals must be low calories and light for the entire day before travelling. Also avoid salty food and dairy products for 24 hours before traveling.

    8. Locate the vehicle's centre - Try to sit close to the vehicle's centre if you can as it will bring decline in movement and reduce your chances of getting motion sick. When you are on a plane, it is advisable to pick a seat that's over the wing as there is lesser movement in this particular area.

With these 8 motion sickness tips, your travels and vacations will become much more enjoyable for you.
